The King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Aid Center has officially initiated its date distribution project for the year 2025 in Lahij Governorate. This initiative, executed in collaboration with the Yemeni Network for Non-Governmental Organizations (YDN), aims to bolster food security and provide support to the most vulnerable families in affected areas. The first batch of this project saw the distribution of 4,400 cartons of dates.

Local Officials Express Support

The launch event was attended by various local officials, including Awdh bin Awdh Al-Salahi, the local council secretary and deputy governor of Lahij. Al-Salahi commended the King Salman Center for its pivotal role in humanitarian and relief efforts throughout Yemen, particularly in Lahij. He expressed gratitude for the center’s ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of citizens, highlighting that this initiative is part of a broader series of essential projects aimed at strengthening the resilience of Yemeni families.

Importance of the Project

Omar Al-Samati, the executive unit director and advisor to the governor on NGO affairs, emphasized the significance of this project amidst the humanitarian challenges faced by the governorate. He praised the center’s efforts in coordinating humanitarian work through effective partnerships with local organizations. Al-Samati noted that the date distribution project is a vital step towards supporting food security in regions suffering from resource shortages. He called for intensified international humanitarian efforts to rescue more families from the threats of hunger.

Continued Humanitarian Efforts

The King Salman Relief Center continues to implement its humanitarian programs in Yemen through strategic partnerships with local and international organizations. The goal is to achieve sustainability and address urgent needs, reflecting the center’s leadership role in supporting the Yemeni people across various humanitarian sectors. This date distribution project is part of an extensive initiative that plans to distribute a total of 625,000 cartons of dates across 12 Yemeni governorates, ensuring significant support for those in need.
